The additive ADBLUE ERG

Just lately, the lubricants market has been reporting a constant contraction of the volume of business. The reasons for it are various: the newest cars’ engines are more efficient with low fuel consumption, car dealers’ competition is getting more and more hardened in terms of all inclusive planned maintenance. Moreover, the incessant improvement in quality of lubricants allows longer oil change intervals.

Thankfully a new trend of specialisation is establishing itself and its makes the market foresee extremely encouraging developments. Some of the major constructors are requesting specific lubricants for their newest generation engines. The first ones have been General Motors, Volkswagen, Ford and the Japanese constructors. Should this trend continue to grow, the market could experience a new and positive revitalization.

All lubricants must guarantee a minimum level of quality for a certain area of application according to to the performance specifications established by the main international Association (ACEA, API, ILSAC and others).

All ERG lubricants ensure, in addition to a high engine protection and low petrol consumption, also very low ashes and sulphur emissions in full observance of the recent international regulations.

The new range comes alongside the existing one expanding its value.

The constructors’ suggestions towards certain brands are often determined by commercial agreements according to the countries where the vehicle is being marketed. Technically though, their requests refer to definite quality demands established by those specifications issued by international organizations. Even though the car manufacturers subject the lubricants to rigorous tests, they do not substantially change their quality as to comply to the international specifications.

Furthermore, the new range of lubricants has been formulated on the basis of specific requirements from the car manufacturers.

It can be easily said that these lubricants have been created "to fit perfectly". One further, important guarantee proposed by ERG.

ADBLUE is a brand which denominates, on a European scale, an aqueous solution of urea, odourless and colourless, to be used exclusively with diesel engines equipped with SCR technology complying with Euro IV regulations (in force since 2006) and Euro V (in force from 2009) in order to knock down polluting nitrogen oxides emissions and particles from exhaust fumes of heavy transportation vehicles according to the ISO 22241.

The product has to be poured into its proper tamk and must not ever be poured into the fuel tank.

The SCR system (Selective Catalytic Reduction), adopted by the main manufacturers, works through the injection of the substance continuously sprayed underneath the combustion chamber into the exhaust stream before the SCR catalytic converter, in proportion to 5% of the fuel consumed.

10 litres of this product allow a 600 km refuelling distance. The regulation management is directly ensured by an electronic system located after the SCR catalytic converter.

The final result is the reaction with the nitrogen oxides which are split into nitrogen and water.

The ADblue product is available in 5 and 10 litres tanks.

The product is not classified as fuel, it is not flammable nor explosive. ERG Petroli makes use of the collaboration of the Antipoisons Department of the "Policlinico A. Gemelli, Università del S. Cuore", Rome for the first aid assistance in case of its improper use.
